Bruce Manson
Birds Eye Drafting and Consulting is a company focused towards developing plans for residential new construction and renovation, as well as providing on site representation and consultation services. They strive to ensure that the design not only achieves the look and feel that the owners are after, but integrates the requirements of everyone involved in the construction process.
Principal Bruce Manson combines his hands-on experience in the construction industry, a Diploma in Architectural Technology, and years spent working for structural engineers, to create drawings for homes that work.
“I’m not just creating a house plan for one person,” he explains. “It’s important to make sure everyone is on the same page – the builders, the engineers, HVAC, plumbing – bringing everyone together, to look at the potential issues ahead of time, and to mitigate those little issues that don’t otherwise become apparent until people are living in the home.”
Over the years, Bruce has developed strong professional relationships with builders in the Comox Valley and in Campbell River, working with builders and developers to create spec and custom plans for new homes and renovations to existing homes.
Outside of the city limits, he has a passion for designing recreational homes – where the emphasis is on integrating the home into the surrounding environment – as well as for timber frame construction.
“We’re blessed in this part of the island to be surrounded by some very talented individuals. A new home can be a complicated machine. No one person has all the answers, I feel it’s necessary everyone involved adds their input during the design process.”
Bruce, a Saskatchewan native, graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). After a brief stay in Alberta, continued west to Vancouver Island in 2005, where he now calls the Comox Valley home.
